About this Report

In preparation for the recent North Central Accreditation (NCA) visit, a campus climate survey for faculty and staff campus climate survey was created and administered in 2005. The instrument was crafted with input from Staff and Faculty Councils; Human Resources; and the Offices of the President, Mission & Values, and Institutional Diversity. It was decided to biennially survey faculty and staff on these topics; thus, this past spring quarter, faculty and staff were asked again to complete this survey. What follows are some enumerated charts highlighting the findings of the most recent survey of staff (analysis of faculty responses appear in another presentation). Detailed data tables are available by request or via the OIPR homepage. It is intended that these data serve to support the administrative functioning of the university, provide key outcomes metrics for the VISION Twenty12 Strategic Plan, and inform the university of staff perceptions. About the survey

  • 81 items encompassing 10 themes:
  • Each item utilized a 5-point agreement scale with higher values indicating more agreement
  • Items within themes were averaged to create an index score for each theme
  • Mean scores were compared for 2005 and 2007 surveys for divisions reporting to the President, Provost and EVP (using the 2007 university organizational structure)
  • 662 staff responded to the survey in 2007 (compared to 674 in 2005) for a 38.5% response rate
